History

Tollerton Primary School has created a new history curriculum that has been designed with core history lenses. A full intent statement will be included here. Our 'lens approach' is as follows:

 

Chronological understanding - when did events happen?

Cause and consequence - questions about why things happened and their results

Change and continuity - questions about developments over time (e.g. comparing everyday lives then and now, trade then and now, how the past helps us make sense of the present.)

Similarity and difference - questions about the different experiences of groups or individuals (e.g. historical periods from the perspective of the aristocracy v's the poor in Victorian times)

Historical significance - questions about events or people viewed over time e.g. what happened and why was it significant, what were the causes of past events and what were the effects? Who were specific people and why were they significant?
