Sport at Tollerton

At Tollerton, we value sport, competition and promoting physical exercise. We celebrate sporting achievements in and out of school as well as the successes we may or may not have throughout the year, encouraging children to be involved in sport as we know the benefits of physical exercise and competition help our children grow and flourish.

Our Sports Leaders

Our Year 6 Sports Leaders are responsible for the distribution and collection of sports equipment, as well as ensuring that playtimes are safe for all children. They will set up, run and referee games during the winter months for other year groups in order to encourage healthy competition and fun at playtimes. They have made an excellent start to the year in their new roles, coming up with their own ideas in how to better organise and improve playtimes.

Champions of Rushcliffe 16/09/2023

10 boys from Y5 and Y6 represented Tollerton at the Autumn Rushcliffe tournament. They started off slowly with 2 draws, but ended up winning the last 3 matches in the group stage to secure a spot in the semi finals. In the semi-finals, we won 2-0 getting through to the final!

After a fantastic back and forth match with excellent defending on display from both sides, we went to extra time and the dreaded penalty shootout.

The boys kept their nerve, and with some emphatic penalties, secured the title of Rushcliffe champions, taking home a trophy that Tollerton boys have not won for at least 20 years (or possibly ever)!

They were respectful to all the teams and humble in their victory. A wonderful team spirit that all of Tollerton should be proud of. Congratulations boys!

National Fitness Day 21/09/2023

For National Fitness Day, we all wore active PE kit with an 80s twist. Key Stage 1 started their National fitness day with a dance off! Class 4 enjoyed keeping fit with some exercises and dancing today. In the afternoon, with the sun shining, class 6 played some great games of bench ball, incorporating their netball skills they had used over the past weeks.

Tollerton Girls 23/09/2023

It was the girls turn this weekend at the Rushcliffe tournament! Having had amazing success last year, the officials decided to put us in the hardest group with the biggest schools!

However, with a brand new team (with many girls playing football for the first time competitvely) we gave it a go... and my word did we give it a go!

Winning 2 matches, dominating a team but unfortunately not getting a win but a draw, and only losing once against a very good team, we ended the group stage second out of five teams. A very good result and team effort for their first games of the season.

The girls had smiles on their faces (as you can tell by the photos), were respectful and represented Tollerton brilliantly.

Well done girls, onwards and upwards!

Pierrepont Gamston vs Tollerton Boys 3/10/2023

The boys football team played their first league match of the year, away at Pierrepont Gamston this afternoon.

We won 8-0! An amazing performance all round and fantastic team spirit. Very proud!
